Whatever you think of Cracker — they’ve been the subject of chart busting platitudes and some indie derision alike — it’s hard to understate the importance of David Lowery’s contribution to popular music. That’s a fact. Beyond his role in crafting earworms that burrowed their way into car stereos in the 90s, his determination to alter the landscape of musical Continue Reading

Google Panda Update: Everything We Know About Panda 4.2

by Owner @ Google Maps Marketing – Expert Local SEO Company

Too late for new changes…

Unfortunately, once Google begins rolling out one of these updates, it is too late to apply changes that will have any effect during the rolling out phase period. As we have seen previously, these updates have a cut-off date and any changes made after this date will be applied to the next refresh or update.

That said, it is always a good idea to be continually updating content. But if you have been previously impacted by Panda and did not make the changes to increase quality yet, you will need to wait for the next one.

Likewise, if you are now negatively impacted by the Panda algo this time around, you will need to wait for the next update or refresh.

Pros and Cons of Premium Website Templates…

by Owner @ Google Maps Marketing – Expert Local SEO Company

Advantages of using Website Templates

What you see is what you get. With a readymade website template, you don’t have to imagine what the finished product will look like, whether the web developer you’ve chosen has understood your requirements, whether your website will have to go through several changes and iterations before you’re satisfied with the end-product. The website template can be customized to your requirements by changing the colors, pictures and text so that it ends up looking quite different from the original.

1. Speed. Time is money. Your website will be up-and-running within a fraction of the time it takes to develop a custom website – provided, of course, that you have the content and the pictures ready to customize your website template to suit you. A custom-designed website can take months to develop, depending on its complexity. Compare that time-frame to the few weeks or even a few days for a website template to become a … Continue reading

How Google Search Works in 2006

by Owner @ Web Hosting | Expert Local SEO and Google Maps Marketing

Infographic shows how search works, from the perspective of a content creator, starting with their content & following it through the indexing & ranking process.

As users have shifted to mobile devices, the limited screen size of the devices have pushed search engines to squeeze out & displace publishers with their own self-hosted information in an effort to offset the poor usability offered by tiny devices, while ensuring the search habit does not decline.

The philosophy of modern search has thus moved away from starting with information and connecting it to an audience, to starting with the user and customizing the result page to them.

‘The Garage Sale’ Review

by London Vayavong @ One of Us

When trying to describe an interactive movie, the first thought that might come to one’s mind is TellTale’s The Walking Dead or Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain. However, this is not the case for The Garage Sale. While a tutorial of sorts is required to understand how to navigate the movie, it is a true cinematic experience. The film follows three Continue Reading

Are Website Builders Actually Free?

by Owner @ Web Hosting | Expert Local SEO and Google Maps Marketing

The majority of website builder brands offer a free account which allows users access to the basic features and building tools. A handful of website builders provide a limited trial period to allow users to get comfortable with the service before paying for the subscription – these are generally the more complex and sophisticated website builders.

The free accounts generally provide users with a subdomain, for example yourname.wix.com, yourname.websitebuilder.com or yourname.squarespace.com users can then publish their site under this URL. If you publish your site on a free account you will notice that it has many advertising banners for the website builder brand that you chose, this doesn’t make your site look particularly appealing to your customers and visitors. Our advice is if you have never used a website builder before or it’s your first time designing a website use the free account to get used to the editor and the features it offers and then when you want … Continue reading

How to Leverage Social Media for SEO: Link Building

by Owner @ Google Maps Marketing – Expert Local SEO Company

Exploring the myriad of ways social networks can be utilized in your link-building efforts.

I recently asked a room of experienced marketers how they thought social media marketing could assist their SEO efforts. The answers were more or less what I had expected to hear:

Social media helps foster relationships, which in turn helps build links and improves rankings. Social media aids in public relations, as a distribution channel and a means of generating easy online buzz. Social sharing provides a form of social proof, giving greater credibility and trustworthiness to your content. Brands can rank for their social networking profiles and receive greater visibility within the SERP.

While these are all true, let’s focus on how link building on social platforms can help unite a brand’s social media marketing and SEO efforts.

At the most basic level, social networking sites provide an easy way to share and distribute your message. If the content is seen by the … Continue reading

Google Begins Rolling Out Its Latest Algorithm Update – Google Panda 4.2

by Owner @ Web Hosting | Expert Local SEO and Google Maps Marketing

Google’s Gary Illyes has confirmed that Google started rolling out Panda update version 4.2 last weekend, affecting 2–3% of queries.

Google algorithm updates always rouse a storm on the internet community as they directly affect website rankings. The latest such refresh is Google Panda 4.2, which began on 18th July, 2015. However, the rollout is extremely slow and that’s the reason people didn’t notice it. According to Google, it may take months till the time we are able to notice any significant impact on the website rankings. It might also not affect all the pages of a website in the short run. Google officials were tight-lipped about why the rollout is so slow.

This refresh is happening just after 10 months from the last update that was rolled out in September last year. As Google algorithm updates keep on happening periodically, it’s considered to be the 30th such update.

Highly Suspect Reviews: Good Time

by @ One of Us

NYC has often been visualized as a fantasy land, a nightmarish landscape, or even hell itself, and the film Good Time definitely puts the city into the ‘almost a character in the film itself’ category. Robert Pattinson (yes, that one) has a brother who is mentally handicapped but he refuses to admit there’s anything wrong with him. When he makes Continue Reading

Highly Suspect Reviews: The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)

by @ One of Us

Director Noah Baumbach returns with another dramedy about a dysfunctional family. Shocker. But are we complaining? No, because nobody does these things better than he does. This time around, Adam Sandler (yes, Adam Sandler) and Elizabeth Marvel play brother and sister who are reengaging with their half-brother (Ben Stiller) when their irascible artist father (Dustin Hoffman) needs them. Anger come Continue Reading

Highly Suspect Reviews: Ingrid Goes West

by @ One of Us

Ingrid (Aubrey Plaza) is a bit on the obsessive side. To put it mildly. She’s seriously into fantasizing about having a friendship with an Instagram influencer (Elizabeth Olsen) who lives on the other side of the country. So she packs up and moves out there to insinuate herself into her life and then, of course, everything will be wonderful when Continue Reading

Highly Suspect Reviews: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

by @ One of Us

So, that was a movie we just saw. That’s pretty much what we were saying coming out of Luc Besson’s latest, a sci-fi action film that is kinda a descent into madness. In more than one way. Dane DeHaan plays the protagonist Valerian and Cara Delevigne plays his sister…erm, partner, Laureline. They are an inseparable duo, space-agents (or whatever) that Continue Reading

Pros and Cons of Premium Website Templates…

by Owner @ Web Hosting | Expert Local SEO and Google Maps Marketing

Are Website Builders Actually Free?

by Owner @ Google Maps Marketing – Expert Local SEO Company

Somebody Likes It Ep 113: Cracker – “Kerosene Hat”

by @ One of Us

Whatever you think of Cracker — they’ve been the subject of chart busting platitudes and some indie derision alike — it’s hard to understate the importance of David Lowery’s contribution to popular music. That’s a fact. Beyond his role in crafting earworms that burrowed their way into car stereos in the 90s, his determination to alter the landscape of musical Continue Reading

‘Prism’ Review – Indie Film Gathering 2017

by London Vayavong @ One of Us

Prism is a film of interconnected stories that revolve around different colors that represent various moods and personalities. The premise makes it feel as though the movie is going to be long and artsy. The kind of pretentiousness that contains lingering shots and pompous fluff dialogue. Thankfully, this possibility is not the case. The movie is brief yet poignant, and Continue Reading

Google Panda Update: Everything We Know About Panda 4.2

by Owner @ Web Hosting | Expert Local SEO and Google Maps Marketing

Too late for new changes…

Unfortunately, once Google begins rolling out one of these updates, it is too late to apply changes that will have any effect during the rolling out phase period. As we have seen previously, these updates have a cut-off date and any changes made after this date will be applied to the next refresh or update.

That said, it is always a good idea to be continually updating content. But if you have been previously impacted by Panda and did not make the changes to increase quality yet, you will need to wait for the next one.

Likewise, if you are now negatively impacted by the Panda algo this time around, you will need to wait for the next update or refresh.

“Coming Months”

What exactly does “coming months” mean? Does it mean two months? Six months? Or is it in limbo right now depending on how fast (or not) they decide … Continue reading
