Position Description

The Customer Service Associate is a customer facing team member who provides superior service by delivering relevant products and services that satisfy the needs of our customers through multiple service channels. The Customer Service Associate makes interactions personal and consistent while making it fast & easy for the customer to do business with Grainger. Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and efficiently interacts with customers (face to face) by discovering their true intent and combining functional/product knowledge to navigate them to the best solution.
  • Uses technology to provide information such as pricing, availability, and alternative solutions to make a relevant offer and ask for the sale.
  • Adheres to standard work and leverages Continuous Improvement tools and principles to identify problems and reduce waste.
  • Support sales partners to address customer’s needs and help grow the business.
  • Responsible for own development, commits to learning and growth by leveraging feedback, coaching, and an individual development plan.
  • Executes the Grainger Service Promise and demonstrates, by action, the company Values.
  • Utilizes effective probing and listening skills to generate lead opportunities. Recognizes and responds to cross-sell opportunities and is able to successfully convert inquiries into orders.
  • Resolves customer problems promptly and accurately in a manner that will retain and promote customer loyalty.
  • Uses the CIC to efficiently record and process orders, faxes, pending returns, returns, debits, credits, sourcing orders, inquiries, feedback and quotes.
  • Captures lost sales to improve local inventory.
  • Accurately picks will call and counter orders. Ensures will call orders are ready when the customer arrives. Records daily will call ready rate.
  • Audits and purges pick tickets daily to meet BBX standards.
  • Guides customers to other internal resources such as Technical Support, Credit, Grainger Parts and Sourcing or Sales as necessary.
  • Takes personal ownership for meeting established individual and team metrics. Consistently executes on all BBX requirements.
  • Assists customers with loading product into customer vehicle.
  • Works effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.
  • Participates in all required training to ensure proper compliance of HAZMAT and refrigerant when processing transactions. Completes product training courses.
  • Opens and directs mail to proper area. Performs filing functions for pick tickets, reports, and other documents.
  • Performs necessary housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe and organized working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

 

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  •  1-2 years customer service and sales experience
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Able and willing to work in a warehouse environment on a consistent basis during initial training period or as needed based on business need.
  • Within 12-24 months of hire date, must exhibit competencies to advance to a Sales Associate position as one becomes available.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to provide superior customer service.
  • Effective communicator, comfortable interacting with customers and internal partners in a professional manner in person and via the phone.
  • Is aware of own strengths and weaknesses. Is open to developmental feedback and takes responsibility for personal development.
  • Must be computer literate and able to learn required software programs including SAP.
  • Must be able to learn and pass competency assessments specific to industry regulatory requirements.
  • Able to operate powered industrial equipment as needed.
  • Professional in appearance, attitude and action.

Position Description

 

Primary Function:

This role is responsible providing pricing leadership and decision making support to the GIS Pricing, Sales and Marketing organizations. This role is responsible for insightful analysis to business leadership assisting those leaders to understand the drivers of pricing decisions.

 

Working under the Pricing Strategy Manager, this role helps formulate pricing strategy, conduct detailed cost and price analysis, and drive the implementation of pricing decisions. The individual will work in close collaboration with other parts of the organization including Product Management, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop models to analyze potential impact of discounting structures on the performance and profitability of targeted customer segments.
  • Assist Pricing Strategy Managers with pricing program administration and review.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to understand their go-to-market approach and provide guidance as needed.
  • Provide proactive analysis to Sales and Customer Service leadership to increase revenue and maintain customer profitability.
  • Embed themselves within aligned cross-functional teams and serve as the main point of contact for pricing analysis.
  • Partner closely with Pricing Analytics and Finance team to develop reliable forecasting models and program performance metrics.
  • Develop reporting and pricing tools to allow field (Sales/Customer Service) to better understand and communicate pricing issues to the customer.
  • Develop post analysis and provide recommendations to leadership.

 

Position Requirements

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, 3-5 years’ experience in Finance, Sales, supply chain or equivalent experience, MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of business strategies including customer requirements, Supply Chain strategies, product information strategies and marketing strategies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working across business functions.
  • Experience in developing financial/pricing analysis and implementing changes based upon analysis.
  • Solid leader and self-motivated with proven ability to sustain strong internal partner relationships.
  • Capable of gathering external customer knowledge and effectively balance customer needs with those of the business.
  • Ability to manage change and influence others in order to reach stated objectives. Proven relationship-building skills to get desired results.
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills. Ability to determine the appropriate amount of detail gained in research in order to present findings in an accurate, methodical, and concise manner.
  • Good financial and analytical skills. Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency with information systems, including SQL, Teradata, SAP, and Microsoft Office applications. SAS and SPSS knowledge a plus.

 

 

 

Working Relationships:

The Pricing Analyst supports initiatives driven by the Pricing Strategy team. This position will partner with the Pricing Operations and Pricing Analytics & Insights teams. This position will also have strong working relationships across Sales, Sales Support, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Customer Service.

 

Work Environment:

Lake Forest, IL office based

 

Impact:

The main objective of the role is to drive growth through pricing initiatives that best meet the needs of Grainger customers. Decisions that are implemented based on the recommendations of the Pricing Analyst have long-term implications to company results.

Position Description

Services multiple customer locations on a daily basis to oversee customer inventory by:

Complies with the safety and inspection requirements of the facility where the service is being provided. Helps generate new orders by engaging with customer to identify additional product needs (e.g., seeks and captures “spot buy” opportunities while on site, looks for additional opportunities to add items to program)

Probes for customer needs during each site visit and provides leads to assigned Account Manager Reinforces with customers to the value of installing or using Grainger services or solutions to benefit their business

Executes onsite service component of account strategy as defined by cross-functional local leadership (Mgr, Onsite Services, Account Manager, or District Sales Manager)

Participates in implementation call reviews with Account Manager, District Sales Manager and Mgr, Onsite Services to assess viability of Inventory Solutions offerings at a customer site

Works collaboratively with sales partners to expand Grainger services and offerings in assigned customer locations

Position Requirements:

 

  • 2-4 year’s experience in customer service, selling or related field preferred
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and dedication to customer service and sales growth
  • Ability to effectively negotiate with tact and diplomacy with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to apply excellent judgment and business acumen with independent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Handle complex technical, operational and financial issues Operate in a complex, rapidly changing environment

Position Description

Responsible for safe, accurate Picking and Checking of customer orders while meeting defined production standards within the Distribution Center.

 

  • Pick customer orders using safe operation of powered industrial equipment, label printers, radio frequency scanners and keyboard data entry.
  • Sort and check customer orders using scanners and conveying system, verify unit quantities, use proper packing materials and guidelines involving hazardous materials.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counting using powered industrial equipment.
  • Perform all necessary stock out checks and review with the Inventory Control Administrator or Coordinator as needed to reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Review order information variances with Shipping Crew Leader or Coordinator.
  • Maintain stock of the proper cardboard and packing supplies at packaging and checking stations.
  • Observe all safety regulations and promote safe work habits.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and works to achieve the housekeeping goals set forth by Warehouse Supervision.

Position Requirements:

MINIMUM EDUCATION:  High school diploma/ GED equivalent and valid state driver’s license

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  One year of general warehouse/distribution knowledge.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION: High school diploma

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  One year of manufacturing or warehousing operating experience using powered industrial equipment and radio frequency scanners.

 

SKILLS:  High degree of mathematical skills, effective reading and writing skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy.  Problem solving skills and ability to complete assigned responsibilities with minimal direction. Technical skills and ability to learn and operate new systems and software  Ability to operate materials handling equipment.

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires majority of time standing and walking.  Requires normal speaking skills, vision and hearing.  Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.  Requires eye‑hand coordination and body dexterity to bend, reach, stoop, crouch, handle, climb and balance.  Ability to operate heavy industrial equipment to a height of 15 feet above floor level. 

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in a warehouse environment.  Substantial amount of contact with employees. Ability to work extended hours on a periodic basis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, STEM-related area or relevant experience required. Master’s degree in a STEM field preferred.
  • Proficient in high-level script languages (Python preferred) as well as script environments like bash
  • Experienced in data movement, Linux(Centos, Ubuntu), Systems integration, testing, and deployment
  • Experience with RDBMS (MySQL, Postgres)
  • A desire to work in a fast growing, fast paced, company
  • ETL experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with agile methodology
  • 3+ years of experience developing web applications required. Open source technologies experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with git
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Experience developing applications that utilize JSON
  • Experience working with search engine technology such as Google
  • Experience developing graphical content of applications a big plus

Primary Function:

Performs tasks associated with the receipt, storage, and shipment of product while meeting productivity, quality, safety, behavioral and attendance expectations. Effectively and efficiently uses established procedures, tools, equipment, and technologies to complete transactions related to inbound and outbound processes with a distribution center

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safely perform assigned warehouse functions utilizing established processes, procedures and tools while meeting performance expectations for productivity, quality, safety and attendance.
  • Functions may include, but are not limited to unloading, put-away, sorting, labeling, picking, packing, replenishing, auditing, shipping, making boxes, etc.
  • Complies with Grainger policies, guidelines and procedures as well as state and federal regulations, OSHA and Hazardous Material requirements in the storage, handling and movement of product.
  • Performs necessary housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
  • Actively participates in process improvements by utilizing Grainger’s quality system.

     

    Essential Functions and Requirements:

  • Must be able to tolerate an environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and work around moving equipment.
  • Able to meet productivity, quality, safety, and attendance requirements, including overtime as required. 
  • Able to do continuous lifting up to 75 pounds and be able to operate warehouse vehicles and material handling equipment. 
  • Operate PIE as required.  PIE equipment could include Crown, Pacer, Reach Truck, Order Picker, Barrett and Turret Truck. 
  • Must be able to work at various elevated stations throughout the DC. 
  • Able to operate computerized scanning equipment. 
  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Must have a minimum of 6-12 months warehouse or related experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

     

    Work Environment: This position reports directly to a Distribution Center Supervisor and/or Process Manager, and has regular interaction with other associates.

Primary Purpose
The Business Analysis team oversees the creation, production, and management of key metrics, dashboards, databases, and tools used to make business decisions in GUS Finance. The primary role of this position is to serve as financial advisor integrating systemic solutions that solve critical financial and business needs for the Grainger US business units.  This role will help management navigate automated solutions while driving strategic decision support to finance, sales, operations, and all other functional areas.  He or she is a strong business partner who must work directly with leaders of each GUS Business Unit and Grainger Enterprise System Teams on topics such as financial analyses and profitability focusing on streamlining/automating processes or analyses, sales growth strategies, productivity, KPI’s for any business unit function, and other analytical needs that involve systemic solutions. He or she will rotate through providing financial and technical expertise to any and/or all Business units based on priority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent. 
  • 4 - 6 years in progressive finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge with big data and related data analytics tools (e.g. R, VBA, Python)
  • Strong experience with emerging reporting tools and technologies (e.g. Tableau, BusinessObjects).
  • Strong experience in SQL coding across enterprise data warehouses (e.g. Teradata,).
  • Strong system knowledge of SAP
  • Strong competency in relevant financial skills such as P&L analysis along with other various decision making financial analysis tools.
  • Broad business knowledge and organizational awareness as well as an understanding of business profitability drivers.
  • Proven analytic and quantitative decision making skills.
