Best Maid Service in Philadelphia

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Clearing the air about keeping your bathroom clean Let’s face it. The worst room in the house to clean is the bathroom. After all, it is the most used room and the room most susceptible to mildew and bacteria. Gross. The best maid service in Philadelphia doesn’t even like cleaning bathrooms but they get paid to do it so they do it thoroughly and well. What can you do in between your maid visits? It’s not the task itself that is hard, it’s the fact that you have to keep cleaning it. Here are a few ways to make cleaning the bathroom as clean as possible until the maid service can come and make it better. Combat the mildew Moisture is the biggest culprit in derailing your bathroom cleaning efforts. Moisture can cause mildew, water spots and leaves a smell. There are a few things you can do to tackle moisture. After you shower, take a couple extra minutes to pull excess moisture from the walls by using a shower squeegee. Also, in the shower, use a water repellent on shower doors. We’re talking about the kind you use on your car windshields. What works on your windshield will work on your shower doors. These water repellents help repel water, soap and minerals so they slide right down your drain before they have a chance to linger. Air it out Don’t forget to run your exhaust fan during your shower and for a few minutes after. It will help prevent mildew as well as dry your damp towels. No fan? Open the window while you shower and for a little while after too. Yes, even in the wintertime. Keep it clear Like any other room in your house, your bathroom probably sees its share of clutter. Especially the tiny bathrooms without a ton of space. Your counter tops and medicine cabinets get so bombarded with medicines and beauty products, especially if more than one family member uses it. Start with expired medication, disposing of them properly. You will be amazed at how much space you will soon have! Next, focus on beauty products. Yes, soap and toothpaste do have expiration dates. If you are limited on space, get some shower caddies for each family member and put the things they use on a daily basis in them. You can line them up on a shelf and keep everything neat and tidy and off the counters. Be consistent Checking on your bathroom daily will help maintain it and keep it up to par until the cleaning service is there to give it a complete overhaul. If you have one thing on your calendar each day, you will find your bathroom will stay cleaner longer. We aren’t suggesting getting on your hands and knees each day and scrubbing away. That is what your maid service is for. But straightening things up a bit each day will go a long way. Breathe easier It does help to get help once in a while. […]

Backpacking Isle Royale National Park, Michigan - Day 3 - South Jersey Trails

Stoll Trail – Isle Royale National Park, MichiganDays – Day 3… day hiking with Tree Rider in towDistance – Day 3 – About 6 miles total for the day, the heart of which was the 4.3 mile Stoll Trail.Total for trip – 8 miles of backpacking (Rock Harbor to 3 Mile Camp and back), plus another 8 miles of hiking (mostly Stoll Trail)Type – Once on the trail, a loopDifficulty: 4 of 10Total score: 9 of 10Website – Isle Royale National ParkOpen – April to November, 24 hours a day.Terrain – hills, swamps, forestsTrailhead – 48° 8’45.96″N, 88°29’10.77″W (No need to look for it, the ferry will drop you right off there. This day started at 3 Mile Camp – 48° 7’26.16″N, 88°31’48.28″WMarkings – Painted blazes, very clear trail.Map – If you’re planning on going, I can’t recommend enough getting the National Geographic trail map. I’ve used these on all my non-AT national park adventures, these maps are accurate (I mean, it is National Geographic) and durable, the two things that you need in a map.Day 3 – Stoll Trail and Ferry back to civilization!Description – Our third and final day on Isle Royale, we woke up less than a half mile from the ferry.  Which wasn’t coming until 2 PM.  Adventure time!My wife stole a march on us, waking up with the sunrise and taking Tree Rider on a hike down the Rock Harbor Trail, which is supposed to be the best spot to spot moose.  She managed to see one, although he was making a run for it when she spotted him.Early morning hike selfie. The Pres and I got up and had a little breakfast just before the Wife got back.  The Pres was pretty tired from two days of backpacking, so we swapped.  My wife hung out with The Pres, and I took Tree Rider for a ride on the Stoll Trail. We’d done a little bit of this trail (about 1 1/2 miles) the day before (hence, the photos with different light), but I set out to do the whole thing.  We headed around the harbor, past the hotel complex, and onto the trail.Day 2 – glad we aren’t leaving today.Day 3 – much better day for a boat ride.Old first aid station. At the trailhead.Once on the trail, it heads 0.8 of a mile along the shore.  There, a 0.1 cross trail (which we’d taken the day before) will shortcut you for a shorter loop.  This was a new day, so we stayed right.  After another 0.7 miles, the trail to Stoll Point becomes a straight out and back of about a half mile. All along the way, keep an eye out for moose, which sadly Tree Rider and I didn’t see.  You’ll duck into and out of vegetation cover, past some old copper mines, and get some great views of the water.  We were out early enough that the folks at the hotel area weren’t out yet, so Tree Rider and [...]

Tips From the Best Maid Service in Wynnewood

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

How do you follow household etiquette? We have certain ways we do things around the house. We may choose to do deep cleanings on Saturday mornings or clean sporadically during the week. We may also choose to hire a maid service in Wynnewood, PA to help us with the tasks when life gets too busy. Whatever way you choose to keep your house clean, we all have our methods and ways in which we do routine chores. Next time you are cleaning your house, ask yourself some of these questions: Do you wipe your feet or take your shoes off? When you enter your home, do you take your shoes off right away or do you just wipe them on a mat and walk through the house with them on? Bacteria builds up on the soles of your shoes and when you walk into the house with your shoes on you are spreading it into your home. This bacteria can cause infections in your stomach eyes and lungs. Don’t get us started on the fecal matter that is on those shoes. That can result in E. coli. There are many other reasons why you should take your shoes off when you enter your home (or someone else’s) but being sanitary is key. Do you leave your dishes in the sink or put them in the dishwasher after eating? This can boil down to a laziness factor. After a long day or when we are in a hurry, it is easy to throw the dishes in the sink and go about our day or evening. But it’s so easy to rinse dishes, open the dishwasher door and stick your dishes inside. If you get your family into this habit, by the end of the night you can run the dishwasher and in the morning you will have clean dishes that take minutes to put away. How long do you keep your kitchen sponge? Even after two or three uses, your sponge may be seeping with bacteria. You can clean your sponge daily and this helps reduce the risk of food poisoning but you should consider replacing your kitchen sponge regularly. When you run your dishwasher at night, throw your sponge on the top rack and run with your dishes. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends replacing your kitchen sponge every 2 to 3 weeks but advise that if it starts to smell at any point, throw it away immediately. Do you follow the 5-second rule? The five-second rule is a western cultural food hygiene concept that states there is a defined window of time where it is permissible to pick up food after it has been dropped on the floor (or ground). Do you follow this rule or not? The truth of the matter is, if you drop food on the floor it immediately comes in contact with bacteria (remember the shoes you are wearing?) so follow it or not, at your own risk. Think about your house etiquette and […]

Financing Long-Term Care in New Jersey 2017

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

Statistics show that approximately 70% of the population age 65 or over will require some form of long-term care. Some will be there for relatively short periods of time. These are usually stroke or accident victims or surgery patients who are doing rehabilitation. A significant percentage will remain in a nursing home for an extended period of time. These are usually Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or other Dementia patients. A statistic widely quoted is that the average stay in a nursing home is 2.9 years. This statistic is somewhat misleading, because the persons receiving rehabilitation are often discharged in one month or [...]

Work With A House Cleaning Service

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Executive Maids…For Those Who Are Too Busy To Clean. Working with a house cleaning service in the Philadelphia area House cleaning is a dirty chore none of us are crazy about doing. If you are like the average household, dealing with work, family and other priorities in life can make house work a challenge and one that you’d rather not do. Thousands of cleaning services are out there vying for your business so that you don’t have to do it yourself. But, because there are so many companies available, knowing how to choose and hire the best maid service in Philadelphia can seem like an overwhelming task. If you have an understanding of what to expect, you can pick the best cleaning company to fit your needs. Many cleaning companies want your business and will do anything to get it. This isn’t unlike any company really; they all want to be the one you choose. But promising and doing are two different things and it’s important to know which cleaning company will hold up to their promise. If you find a cleaning company that offers you very cheap pricing, for example, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will do a cheap job. However, more often than not, those really inexpensive companies won’t do the stellar work you are looking for your home and family. Reputable maid service companies will work with you on scheduling. They understand you lead a busy life and that your home is messier at certain times of the week than others. If you want your house cleaned first thing on Monday morning, for example, let them know your preference. A very busy cleaning service may have to put you on a wait list for your preferred time slot but they should be able to at least try and accommodate your requests. Most cleaning companies understand you may be shopping around for the right fit for your needs so they shouldn’t try and pressure you into anything. They should offer a free consultation and sit down with you to discuss what it is you actually need them for. Yes, cleaning is obvious, but, cleaning what? Maybe there are certain rooms that need more attention than others or certain cleaning tasks that you prefer to do on your own. Whatever the case may be, a good cleaning company will figure out what your needs and priorities are before they even start cleaning. Larger cleaning companies do a lot of hiring. Therefore, they know who to hire and how to hire the right staff. They do background checks on their potential employees and are licensed and bonded. This is to reduce the risk of theft and damage to your home and belongings. You want a company that does these types of screenings and insuring so that you are protected just as much as they are. If you are looking for the best maid service in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, you have many choices. Philadelphia Magazine has chosen Executive Maids […]

Inside Jersey Magazine writes about South Jersey Trails!

by southjerseytrails @ South Jersey Trails

I have to imagine my 15 minutes of fame is coming to an end soon, but Inside Jersey Magazine interviewed me as part of a bigger set of articles on the pine barrens.  Thank you to Jenn Hall for reaching out, and for having such a nice little write up!

Mike McCormick, of Barrington, didn’t set out to create the definitive South Jersey hiking guide. It’s just that it didn’t exist. Now, his website, launched in March 2013, covers more than

120 trails, nearly 50 of which are in the Pines. An avid backpacker and history teacher, McCormick, 35, finds ample inspiration to satisfy both interests here. Asked what he brings for a trek, he quips: “My children.”

Mother’s Day With Executive Maids

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Mom needs her house cleaned too May 14th is Mother’s Day. That’s just around the corner. Think about how much your Mother has done for you all of your life. Now that we are adults and can give back we should really think about giving Mom something she can use and really appreciate. If you want to show Mom how much you love her, give her the gift of cleaning with Executive Maids maid service in Blue Bell. You can even take it one step further and give her regular or bi-weekly or monthly house cleanings. We all know how important it is to have a clean home and Mom knows this better than any of us. For all the years she has cleaned the house to make sure you had a safe environment to grow up in, isn’t it time to return the favor? Here’s why you should give Mom the gift of cleaning. She deserves it This is the obvious answer of course. For all of the years, she slaved over a hot stove, made sure you had clean clothes and mopped up the floors countless times, it’s her time to put her feet up and relax. Things get harder as time goes on Let’s face it; Mom isn’t as young as she once was. Cleaning might be hard for her to do. Things, like cleaning the bathroom and mopping the floors, can be cumbersome chores for her now. She may be too proud to hire help herself so that’s where you come in. She will thank you later. BUY MOM AN EXECUTIVE MAIDS GIFT CERTIFICATE! She won’t do it herself Like we just mentioned, Mom might be too proud to hire a maid service so she won’t do it herself. It’s an old school mentality and most Moms from yesteryear would never admit they need the help. But, you know better so just hire it for her. She may be embarrassed at first, but she will relish at the gift. It will free up her time to do more enjoyable things. Hindsight is 50/50 Mom may be perfectly able to clean, but is she cleaning well? You may not want to hurt her feelings when you see cobwebs in the corner of the living room so you don’t say anything. A cleaning service won’t tell her either, they will just get it done. It’s not that you think Mom keeps a filthy home, it’s that maybe it can be done just a little more thorough. That’s where the maid service comes in. This Mother’s Day give Mom something she can actually use and will appreciate. Give her the gift of cleaning with a gift certificate from Executive Maids. When you are looking for maid service in Blue Bell only the best will do. The best is Executive Maids. Let us help you get Mom’s house clean so that she can enjoy better things in life, like you and her grandchildren. Mom deserves the best. She cleaned up […]

Making Special Needs Trusts Last

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

By Thomas D. Begley, Jr., CELA When a personal injury victim receives a settlement, one of the biggest post-settlement problems is making the money last. If the plaintiff is receiving means-tested public benefits, the monies must be put in a Special Needs Trust. How long do the beneficiary and other family members need that money to last? Description –

After we were in the Philadelphia Inquirer (that’s still so bizzare to type), I got a really nice email from Phil Arsenault of the South Jersey Land and Water Trust telling me I should check out their preserve down in Swedesboro/Auburn.  So we did!

The preserve is awesome from the moment that you get there, because there’s Gideon Scull house from about 1790 right next the parking lot, which serves as the headquarters for the South Jersey Land and Water Trust.

From 1938 to 1967, this was a Boy Scout camp for the Cumberland County Council.  Keep an eye out for clues around the preserve that this was a Scout camp, plenty out there!  Then from 1968 until 2009, this was a family campground, before finally coming into the possession of the South Jersey Land and Water Trust.

So off we went down the trails!  We started down what was obviously the access road, which passed an old barn, the remains of a swingset (horse swingset?), a basketball court, and then splits into three directions (although we only noticed two directions at the time).

Down the old access road.

Past the barn.

Odd looking swingset

Right or left? There was also a sharp right that we didn’t spot until later.

We chose left, by which I mean the Pres chose left.  Almost immediately on the right was the Blue Trail, but for now we skipped it and kept walking down the old access road.  After a minute or two (seriously, it’s a tenth of a mile from the turn to the field), we arrived at a good sized open field filled with butterflies and dragonflies that is the end of this road.

Good sized trees.

End of the line… a big ol’ field.

We spent a few minutes looking at birds and insects, we backtracked a short ways to the Blue Trail.

This trail was heavily shaded and had some really great trees.  The trail dropped down to a small brook that we crossed on a few pieces of wood, then crossed a small wet area that Tree Rider wasn’t to thrilled about.  Then it was up a hill to a bench in the woods.  Shortly past this bench, the trail dead ends.  I do love that the end of trails here are [...]

Google Search Best Cleaning Company Near Me

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Why cleaning is so hard For those of us who lead busy lives enriched in family obligations, social standards and work responsibilities, finding the time to keep a clean house can seem almost impossible. Where is the time for a proper cleaning? Why is it so hard to keep a clean house? The solution is simple. We can hire a cleaning company to do it once a week that offers the best maid service in Wynnewood, PA. Perhaps our inability to keep up with housework is psychological. Most of us dread cleaning. We can’t all be like Monica on Friends who craves something to clean all the time. Most of us just aren’t like her. We have been ingrained with the idea that housework is tedious, awful work that leaves no reward. Monica would disagree with that. What about the fact that you have a fresh, clean home when you are done? That’s pretty rewarding although we can’t seem to grasp that it is enough. Perhaps the physical aspect of cleaning is unappealing to us. We can get on our running shoes and run 5 miles but the physical act of mopping the floor is too hard. We can go to the mall and shop for hours, be on our feet forever but walking to the laundry room takes an eternity. Forget about cleaning the toilet. That seems physically impossible and well…kinda yucky! It requires little effort to do a lot of different household chores but yet, we can’t seem to fit them into our schedules. Whatever our aversion to cleaning is, the good news is that we can get help. Enlist the kids to help. Bribe them with an allowance if necessary. Wipe down the counters while you talk on the phone. Clean the shower down while you are still in there. Then, hire a cleaning service in Wynnewood to help get the hard stuff done. Having someone come in once a week to clean the appliances, dust, mop and (the dreaded of all jobs) clean the bathrooms, gives us a relief and a hope that we can tackle other things like the laundry and loading and unloading the dishwasher. Once the pressure of the really undesirable tasks is off our shoulders we can breathe and go do the important things we were meant to do. Cleaning shouldn’t be so hard and whatever the reason it is for you to not be able to complete mundane household tasks, enlist the help of a professional and take a breath. Executive Maids can be that ray of light for you and your home. We are a full-service cleaning company with a team of powerful, pink t-shirt wearing, fully-trained and ambitious people who strive to take the load off of you. Honestly. They even like going home after a long day and clean their own homes. Maybe Monica does exist… If you are looking for the best maid service in Wynnewood, PA, Executive Maids is on your side! Call: 215.690.4000 Email: Your name […]

CORPORATE TRUSTEES HATE THIS! ONE SIMPLE TRICK TO SAFEGUARD YOUR TRUST

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

by Kevin M. Buttery, Esquire When planning your estate, it is often advisable to utilize a trust to effect one or more of your goals. The trustee of such a trust can, and in certain circumstances should, be a corporate entity, also known as a corporate fiduciary. However, you may not want to relinquish control of your assets to somebody outside of the family. To overcome this uncomfortable proposition, your attorney may suggest that you appoint a “Trust Protector” for your trust. While a Trust Protector may sound like a super hero wielding unending power, the role is really meant [...]

Rancocas Creek Paddle- Pemberton to Mt Holly – 8 miles

by southjerseytrails @ South Jersey Trails

Rancocas Creek Canoe Trail – North Branch Rancocas Creek – Birmingham (Pemberton) to Mt. Holly, Burlington County, NJ
Distance: 8 miles
Type: One way
Difficulty: 6 of 10 – blow downs along the first mile can be tricky, but should be way less of a problem in higher water.

Website: Rancocas Creek Canoe Trail – Burlington County Parks

Terrain – Shady section of river with heavy woods on either side, mixed with the backyards of homes along the creek

Put in –
Birmingham Road –  39°58’45.17″N,  74°42’35.59″W – Mile 6.0 on the Rancocas Creek Canoe Trail

Begin portage at Smithville/Take out – 39°59’8.43″N,  74°45’1.56″W (Mile 10 on the Rancocas Creek Canoe Trail)

Put in/end of portage at Smithville –  39°59’9.56″N,  74°45’7.64″W

Pull out –
Mt Holly –  39°59’24.70″N,  74°46’46.65″W (Mile 14 and the end of the Rancocas Creek Canoe trail)

Parking at put in (Birmingham):

Parking at take out (Mt. Holly – Ironworks Park):

For a longer paddle, you can continue from the pull-out here onto the tidal section of Rancocas Creek down to the confluence of the North and South Branches. It’s eight more miles to the takout at Hainsport (which requires going UPSTREAM on the South branch for a mile) and lot of fun, but make sure you are with a falling tide or it can be less fun.

Map:

Note that we went from Mile 6 to Mile 14. We’ll be back for Mile 0 to Mile 6 sometime when the water is higher!

Description:

So, when its in the upper 90s, people who are not so bright take 8 1/2 mile hikes through the pine barrens (whoops) (Okay, it was beautiful) (but such a bad idea) (but such a good idea).

So the NEXT day when it was supposed to be the same upper 90s hot, I went canoeing with Dan and The Pres.  Much better choice.  We grabbed Ol’ Tippecanoe and opted to try an 8 mile run on Rancocas Creek between Pemberton and Mt Holly that was new to us (from miles 6 to 14 on the Rancocas Creek Canoe Trail)

I’m glad we started at Birmingham Road, because, with weeks of pretty much no rain, the water levels were really, really low.  If we had tried to start higher, it would have been a hike instead of a paddle (someone on our Facebook group stated this was the lowest they remember seeing the creek).

Even so, the first mile and half went really slowly due to a million trees we had to pull the canoe over.  What I *think* made this tough was, with the water so low, every tree in the creek became a pull over, when many of these trees would usually just have the Rancocas flow right over the top of them.

Looking back to the road bridge that we just started from.

Someone got to use his new life jacket (thanks Grandma & Granddad!) and his new canoe paddle (thanks Uncle Tom!) from his birthday for the firs time. The Pres was a champ, paddling pretty much the whole eight miles.

This is the sort of fun we ran into for [...]

Hiring a Maid Service in Wynnewood, PA

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Is a maid service worth it? Figure out your opportunity cost and decide for yourself We all lead busy lives. Families, couples and singles alike all work hard to try and have fuller richer lives. But those hectic schedules come with a price and that price is a clean home, time spent with family and friends and general down time to rest and rejuvenate. One way to alleviate some of this pressure is to hire a maid service in Wynnewood, PA and surrounding Montgomery County neighborhoods to clean your home so that you can focus on more important things in your life. When deciding if a maid service is a right fit for you, consider your opportunity cost. This is a way to decide what your time is worth to you. Everything we do in life has a cost. Sometimes these costs are financial, other times you give up other things like time. What you give up is an opportunity cost. It is a method to decide how valuable your time is to you. Consider what you make per hour at work. Maybe you make $50 an hour and you consider your time to be worth that much. Take into consideration other members of the household who earn an income and combine your hourly wages. As an example… Most homes take 60 to 90 minutes when cleaned on a regular basis. If a maid service charges $135 per hour for a team of 3 house cleaners, you may find it may be worth your while to give up more than an hour of your family’s combined pay to have a clean house! A maid service will definitely be worth saving your time and spending a little money in this case. Hiring a maid service frees up valuable time that you would spend cleaning each week. It may take you about four to five hours each week to thoroughly clean your home. Hiring a maid service frees up valuable time that you would spend cleaning each week. It may take you about four to five hours each week to thoroughly clean your home. A cleaning service can come in and do the same amount of work in just one hour. Now you can begin to understand just how cost effective a maid service can be! Being cost effective isn’t just about saving money sometimes. Time has no price but it is precious and we all need more of it. In today’s world, people’s lives are filled with events from the moment they awake until the moment they retire for the night. When daily cleaning is put off due to time restraints the result is a household in disarray and an accumulation dirt and dust. Now is a perfect time, in time for spring cleaning, for you to hire Executive Maids. They will get your home clean and tip top shape and maintain it for you. If you are on the fence about hiring a maid service, think about the downtime you get […]

Penns Hill Trail – Wells Mills County Park – Waretown, NJ

by southjerseytrails @ South Jersey Trails

My buddy Pat and I went hiking at the height of the July heat at Wells Mills.  Luckily, it was in the upper 90s with a million percent humidity.  And we decided to do the Penns Hill Trail (labeled at the Marci Trail on the maps, but different on the signs)… 8.4 miles.

Regardless of death heat trying to crush me, this is one of my new favorites in South Jersey, so you know it must be good.

For the review and a million pictures, check the now UPDATED post for Wells Mills County Park, where we added all about the new-to-us trail and our grand (aka, hot) adventure that thankfully had blueberries:

Trailheads –  39°49’1.84″N,  75° 0’13.91″W

Rules:

Standouts – Beautiful views of Timber Creek, Walt Whitman quotes along the boards.
Markings – None, but follow boardwalk or obvious trail tread.
Map –

The trail “t”ed almost immediately. I think we actually went left this time though.

Description –

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on the South Jersey Trails Facebook group about the Whitman Walk near the old Crystal Spring in Laurel Springs, NJ.  This spot was one of poet Walt Whitman’s favorite places, and he often would drink at the spring and bath in Timber Creek.

Just off the corner of Lakeview Ave and W Elma Ave, you can walk down the road-sized path down past the stone stack labeled “Crystal Spring”.

The trail drops down eight or ten feet in elevation into a flat area.  Straight ahead is the trailhead sign.  The spring is pretty much immediately to the right, but we saved that for later.

Now I wasn’t expecting a lot, but what we found was an intimate set of boardwalks along Big Timber Creek.  Inscribed on some boards were lines of verse that Whitman had written while in the area or thinking of the area.

Now I’m not usually much one for poetry, but poetry inscribed in the trail itself?  Let’s do this!

We quickly hit a four way intersection.  To the right was a bench next to the creek.

To the straight or left was a loop along a further area of the creek, which also had a bench to sit and reflect at at its furthest point.

Reflecting on some lines of Whitman, if that’s your thing.

Kite Flyer is enjoying nature.

To the left is another bench along the creek. To the right completes the loop at the four way intersection.

We reached the furthest bit of boardwalk along the creek, where there was another bench of sitting.

We then headed back along the loop to the original four way intersection.

We then headed back the way we had started, to the original “T” intersection.  I figured this short trail was done, but we were delighted to discover that the boardwalk stretched a bit on the other direction.  The trail followed the creek, went across a little mini-bridge, past a nice fishing spot comp, and reached a spot where the boardwalk ended.

Eventually, we’ll come back here and go down that side trail. It loops around to the spring by the original spot we reached the trail system.

Checking out a mushroom.

Checking [...]

Baby’s 1st Hike!

by southjerseytrails @ South Jersey Trails

So eight days after the baby was born, he went out for his first hike at Crows Woods in Haddonfield.

While he slept through most of it, he bravely went 0.6 miles through the woods anyway.

The Pres and Tree Rider are pretty psyched about it.

Also, we have decided that, for purposes of this blog, he is to be dubbed “Kite Flyer”.

I also want to publicly recognize that my wife is a very patient and understanding and, frankly, awesome woman who thinks taking babies out hiking at 8 days is perfectly acceptable (also, tough).

My track, which should be a little helpful.

Description –

At late July day?  A new baby?  Two kids bouncing off the walls?  So out the door The Pres, Tree Rider, and I went to get some energy used up.

We ended up at the new Tranquility Trails, unveiled in late Spring 2017.  These are very much a work in progress, with blazes, maps, and markers coming at some point, but we were able to follow the mowed path for 0.8 miles one way.

You start at the back corner of the parking lot…

Enjoy the flowers as you walk by them, then enter the woods.

This is your longest patch of shade on the trail, so if its late July like it was for us, enjoy!

You’ll then emerge out of the woods at a “t” intersection.  The path to the right was more overgrown than the path to the left, so we went left.

You’ll then follow the edge of a field.  Keep an eye out for birds along the way, and, if the time of year is right like it was for us, enjoy the bajillion flowers.

After a nice long stretch of field, you’ll enter a small patch of woods.  Keep an eye out for the bee hives here!

Old hunting stand.

Then its back out into open fields again for more flowers!  Yay!

We turned a corner and ran into a gate… end of hiking out!

There are supposed to be views of the creek at some point, but we didn’t find them this trip.  Maybe next time!  For now, we turned around and backtracked.

We thought about heading down the slightly more overgrown trail we’d previously walked past, but we opted not to.

So back we went to the parking lot.

Nearby: Oldmans Creek Preserve and Lake Narraticon are both nearby in Swedesboro.

The Benefits of Bloodline Trusts

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

By Thomas D. Begley, Jr., Esquire, CELA When Should You Consider a Bloodline Trust? A Bloodline Trust offers protection to your children from: (1) divorce, (2) creditors, (3) death of children and subsequent remarriages of children’s spouses, and (4) squandering the money. Divorce The old saying, “We can pick our friends, but we can’t pick our family,” is particularly applicable in the case of sons- and daughters-in-law. Often, our children choose wonderful, trustworthy spouses with whom we get along very well. But occasionally, they choose partners who cannot be trusted, leaving us concerned for the emotional and financial well-being of [...]

Maid Service Etiquette in Philadelphia

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Clean the floors Cinderella! Maid service has gotten a bad rap over the years. It used to be that domestic servants were looked down upon as “the help” and open to exploitation by the upper-class elitists. to be treated no better than Cinderella was. Well, Cinderella is here to tell you that maid service in Philadelphia is like that no more! Even though this insensitivity tends to still exist in the mindset of more than a few clients, a professional house cleaner actually is a highly skilled worker whose job requires stamina, high energy, endurance, acquired techniques, good judgment, attention to detail, pride in workmanship and a strong desire to provide excellent customer service to his or her clients. Although the stigma of being a maid is no longer considered a shameful position, many people who are considering hiring a cleaning service for the first time have etiquette questions that they may be afraid to ask. If you are welcoming anyone into your home, you shouldn’t feel reluctant to ask questions that may concern you. Should I tip the cleaning service and how much? Answers to this question vary but if you are going to tip the standard range of 10-20 percent is appropriate. Many professional cleaning services don’t require or expect gratuity but it is the client’s decision. Your house cleaners truly appreciate the gratitude shown when you tip them! Should I clean before the maid service arrives? Sounds cliché but it can be helpful to clear up clutter ahead of time so a cleaning service can focus on thoroughly cleaning your home. It allows them to come in and focus on what’s important such as vacuuming or mopping, not picking up the kids toys first. Can I be home while the maid service is there? What about my pets? We have no preference as to whether the client is home or not. Every company is different so be sure to ask. Most maid service companies prefer you not to be home so that they can concentrate on cleaning and not taking orders from a client. It just minimizes distractions and ensures a more thorough cleaning. As for pets, make sure your service is aware that there are pets in the house. Some cleaners may have allergies so if they are notified beforehand, they know who to send to clean your home. If your pet is friendly, there shouldn’t be a problem. Are there any common misunderstandings people have when hiring a maid service? If you are forthright in the beginning and let the service know exactly how big and/or messy your home is, it will allow them to schedule the appropriate type of service and amount of time. If certain things you need to be done aren’t part of routine cleaning, it’s important to let them know ahead of time so they can tell you if it will take more time or cost more. You don’t want any surprises when they get there to clean and nor does […]

Hiring A Maid Service in Philadelphia

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

What to expect from a maid service Having a maid service in Philadelphia clean your house on a regular basis, or complete a one-time deep cleaning, is a wonderful way to take care of your home without spending hours on your knees with cleaning supplies. Regular cleaning also helps preserve wood floors, furniture, upholstery and countertops. A maid service can be expected to come to your house and clean. But what does that entail? The standard maid services include: Vacuuming and mopping All carpets, edge carpeting as needed, staircases, hardwood, tile floors, and inside/out of furniture as needed. Dusting Ceiling perimeters, ceiling fans, vents and over door frames, dust windowsills, ledges and woodwork Kitchen Outside of cabinets and major appliances, inside toaster and microwave ovens, disinfect sink, counters, table and chairs, woodwork, floor and collect trash. Bathroom Outside of cabinets, mirrors, clean and disinfect everything in the bathroom (sink, counters, tub, shower, toilet, trashcan) and clean floor. Bedroom Change bed linens (if bed is stripped and clean sheets are set out), dust and clean floors Some maid services offer other tasks as part of their regular service that most do not. For example, some may load your dishwasher and while most maid services will clean your stovetop, some will include cleaning the inside of the oven as well and others will do it upon request. Some maid services will clean the inside of most standard windows, but the outside is either an extra charge or not covered at all. In fact, most maid services do not cover exterior cleaning. There are things that the vast majority of maid services do not do. Most will not: Do the dishes. Do your laundry. Wash walls or mini-blinds unless it has been agreed upon Also, a maid will not pick up after you. We joke about having to clean up before the maid arrives, but there is a reality behind it. If your floor is cluttered with toys, etc, a maid can’t vacuum it. Very few people want to be responsible for breaking someone’s belongings so it is your responsibility to pick up after yourself before the maid service comes to visit. Most maid services bring their own cleaning supplies and equipment needed to clean your home. You may prefer that they use your own products, which most services don’t have a problem with as long as you leave the products and/or equipment out for them and directions are given on how to use. Larger cleaning companies bring a team to your home, usually consisting of three to four cleaners, which includes a team supervisor. All cleaners should be trained to clean thoroughly and systematically and are given a background check. The supervisor may clean with the team and upon completion of the cleaning, they will inspect the home to ensure it has been cleaned properly. At Executive Maids, we treat your home with the utmost care. When are looking for a maid service in Philadelphia you can trust us to complete the […]

Executive Maids Deep Cleanings in Montgomery County

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

It’s spring; let’s clean with Executive Maids in Blue Bell! Living in the northeastern part of the country has its moments. Some days it’s 90 degrees outside and others it’s below freezing. While we are waiting for Mother Nature to make up her mind, it is still, in fact, officially Spring. Since spring has sprung, it’s time to clean our homes and get out of the harsh winter and into sunny day mode.  When you are looking for the best maid service in Blue Bell, PA to help with that spring-cleaning, be sure to look at Executive Maids. Spring-cleaning always needs to be done. The sun comes out and we look around like the dawn has finally arrived. And then we notice the dust and dander and streaky windows and dirty carpet and stained upholstery. Don’t panic! A maid service can help you. When you hire a cleaning company to come in after the long winter’s nap you’ve just had, have realistic expectations. Your home may be dirtier than you think when Spring comes and therefore, a maid service will have to dig a little deeper to get your home clean. When spring is in the air, the weather is beautiful, the sun is shining and it reveals all of the dust and dirt that our winter housecleaning didn’t quite get rid of. There is something about “spring cleaning” that makes us feel renewed and happy. And this feeling dates back centuries with several cultural traditions thought to hold the origination of spring-cleaning. Many cultures claim to be the reason why this tradition still exists today. One of these traditions comes from the Jewish faith. Passover is thought to be an origin of spring-cleaning. During Passover, the Jewish people commemorate their departure from Egypt. During this celebration, it is tradition to remove all leavened items from the home. Many historians believe that Jewish people would thoroughly clean their homes before Passover to make certain that nothing leavened remains. Whether Passover is the origination of spring-cleaning or another tradition is remains to be seen but some believe it is just biological. That when spring arrives we have a renewed energy. Because there is less sunlight during the winter months, we generate more sleep hormones, making us sleep. When the sunny days return, we feel more energetic and revived. This gives us the sense of cleaning and welcoming the warmer weather in with a clean home. From a health perspective, spring-cleaning helps clean out dirt and dust to avoid illnesses like allergies and asthma.  It is a time to renew and recharge and let the fresh new air in. Whatever your belief of the meaning behind spring cleaning, you can take it to a new level by finding a good maid service to help with the task. Executive Maids, the best maid service in Blue Bell, PA is just the company you need to help you get moving. Let the fresh spring air and sunlight invigorate you and let Executive Maids in […]

FUNDING SPECIAL NEEDS TRUSTS

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

by Thomas D. Begley, Jr., CELA Overview Estate planning attorneys are regularly called upon to draft trusts for their clients’ children with disabilities. Typically, these children are determined to be disabled by the Social Security Administration and are receiving SSI, Medicaid, or other means-tested public benefits. The goal of the parent in establishing the trust is to maintain public benefits for the child with disabilities while providing an inheritance to enrich the child’s life. The inheritance is to supplement, not supplant, public benefits. There is an old adage that there are two ways to screw up a Special Needs Trust: [...]

MODIFYING AN IRREVOCABLE TRUST

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

by Thomas D. Begley, Jr., CELA Introduction Frequently, clients have established irrevocable trusts that they would like to modify or terminate. Historically, in New Jersey this has meant that a court order was required. This was a somewhat time-consuming and expensive process for the clients and the adoption by New Jersey of the Uniform Trust Code has greatly simplified the process. There are two ways an irrevocable trust can be modified. One through a court order, and the other through consent of the parties using a Non-Judicial Settlement Agreement (NJSA). Court Approval Where court approval is obtained, the process is [...]

Executive Maids Cleaning Service Tackles Pet Hair

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Winning the War on Pet Hair   Can’t keep up with your pet’s shedding…Executive Maids can help you with this.  It is fur-shedding season, which is nature’s attempt to get rid of our dogs and cats’ thick winter fur. Add to that allergies that come with the season as well. Hiring a maid service can help control the dust and dander but there are a lot of ways that you can keep things under control as well. The best way to fight the war on pet hair is through regular grooming of your pet and regular cleaning around the home. Dogs with healthy skin shed their skin cells every 22 days. Dead pet skin is called dander and what can create a lot of allergens in the home. To keep the dander at bay, bathe your dog once a month using shampoos that are designed to be sensitive. Since most cats don’t like water, use grooming wipes to help remove loose hair and stop it from settling on your furniture and carpet. Brushing your pets regularly is essential to the war on pet hair. Talk to your groomer about the right tools to use because not all pet brushes are created equally. Dogs are usually happy to be groomed. Try brushing them outside so that the loose air doesn’t fly around the house. Cats are trickier. They may want to be brushed on your lap or on a counter. Let them choose where and then put a towel under them so you can easily dispose of the fallen hair. Now that you have tackled the actual fur on your pet’s back, think about what you can do in the home to keep it fur-free. Consider purchasing a powerful vacuum cleaner. There are some models that are actually labeled for pet hair to get the job done. Make sure you purchase one that comes with a variety of tools that allow you to extract hair from the stairs, crevices, and cushions. Keeping a lint roller (or ten) around the house really helps to pick up hair also.   Also make sure that blankets, pillows, pet beds and any linens that your pet like to sleep on get washed regularly. Tackling pet dander can be an easy process if you do it on a regular basis and you have a plan of attack that works. Some pets are more agreeable than others when it comes to grooming but make sure you find a system that works for you and your furry friend. Keeping your house dander free is key especially if you have any allergy sufferers in your household. Consider hiring a maid service to clean and maintain your home for weekly, bi-weekly or monthly cleanings. Having Executive Maids professional house cleaners come in and help keep the dander at bay will take some relief off of you. Winning the war on pet hair is definitely doable. You just need to have the right tools and mindset to do it. Executive Maids can keep […]

NON-TAX REASONS FOR ESTATE PLANNING

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

by Thomas D. Begley, Jr., CELA In calendar year 2000, the exemption from federal estate tax was $675,000. Clients who owned a home, had a retirement plan, and even modest other assets, had to consider this tax. Beginning in 2002, the exemption gradually increased from $1,000,000 to the current level of $5,490,000. Only two-tenths of one percent of decedents dying in 2016 had to file a federal estate tax return. New Jersey decoupled from the Federal Estate Tax at the $675,000 level. Many individuals still had to plan to avoid or minimize this tax. Beginning January 1, 2017, the New [...]

Theodore Roosevelt National Park – Medora, North Dakota

Theodore Roosevelt National Park – South and North Unit
Website – https://www.nps.gov/thro/index.htm
Medora, North Dakota

This summer, our big adventure was having a new baby.  But LAST summer we took a month-long road trip out to Montana.

New “National Park” national park #2 for us on this trip was Theodore Roosevelt in North Dakota.  I wasn’t expecting much out of our two night, two day stay, pretty much just another Badlands National Park.  Instead I found a real contender for one of my favorite national parks.

We rolled into Medora in the late afternoon, having stopped a few places in our drive across most of North Dakota to get here.  Our first stop was the rest stop off of I-90, which featured a just closed visitors center and a very pretty view.  Then it was off at the Medora exit and into the southern unit of the park, where we drove past a prarie dog village and set up camp for the night.

As it grew dark, my wife decided to put Tree Rider to bed.  To make things easier, The Pres and I took a drive.  We ended up on a bluff watching a bison watch the sunset.

The the bison and the two of us went to sleep.

The next morning, it was up and to the Visitors Center for the opening.  Behind the Visitors Center was one of Teddy Roosevelt’s cabins from when he lived in the North Dakota badlands.

Also, the beginning of a Teddy Roosevelt obsession for The Pres that is still with him a year later.

We then drove past the prairie dogs and the campground again to get onto the scenic loop drive.  It was very pretty, and we stopped a lot to take pictures.

We then stretched our legs on the Ridgeline Trail (0.6 miles).  It was a steep climb to start…

Go Tree Rider, go!

But the views on the loop at the top were well worth the steps.

And it was oh-so-hard to pick just a few pictures.

Then it was back into the car to finish the loop.

Petrified log.

There was more beautiful scenery, but The Pres flipped out when we drove into the midst of a bison herd.

I’m not sure I’d ever seen him so excited as he was with those bison.

We finished up the loop and drove back past the campsite.

We then drove into town to get a few things done, as well as to let the kids go on a playground and get some play time in.  It was set up like a frontier fort… totally awesome.  Then it was back to our campground, dinner, and another sunset.

In the morning, we packed up camp and hopped in the car.  We drove over an hour to the less visited Northern Unit of the park.  Here was more great scenery and more bison.

Good warning.

Then, it was off to drive across the rest of North Dakota (stopped off at Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site… completing our tour of all three national park units in North Dakota) and a huge [...]

Maids Do Spring Cleaning in Villanova, PA!

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Spring Cleaning: Maid Service in Villanova, PA Spring is coming! It may not feel like it yet, but it is just around the corner. Gearing up for the warm months means lots of spring-cleaning is on its way as well. We all want to have a clean fresh house after struggling with the cold, long winter. Sometimes, however, we just don’t have the time to get it all done. Consider hiring a maid service in Villanova to help you kick start spring and get every room in your house in tiptop shape for summer! After you have the professionals come in and tackle the tough stuff, consider hiring them once or twice a month to help keep your house in good shape. In between those visits, there are tons of things you can do to keep your house clean without spending your entire Saturday doing it. Even if you don’t have time for a full seasonal spruce up, there are things you can do if you have only an hour or just minutes. Got five minutes? Pick your messiest “junk drawer” and get cleaning! Empty out the drawer, throw away or relocate items that you no longer need or that don’t belong there (why is your tape measure in your underwear drawer anyway?) Got fifteen minutes? Clean your range hood. Pop out the mesh filter and soak it in some sudsy water. Rinse and lay out to dry. While that is drying, clean the hood with a grease-cutting kitchen cleaner. Wipe down the knobs and light. Rinse and dry then replace the filter. Got thirty minutes? Grab your duster and dust everything! Attack ceiling fans, lights, molding, bookcases, tables, etc. You can also tackle tile grout in thirty minutes. Spray grout with kitchen and bathroom cleaner. Let it set for several minutes then scrub with a brush and rinse. They will look clean and good as new! Got an hour? Tackle the windows. We all know one of the most abused things in your home during winter is the window. The elements beat against them and the kids lean against them while trapped inside during a snowstorm.   Raise those blinds and clean the windows with a spray cleaner. Lower the blinds and dust away! Vacuum the drapes. You can also go behind furniture and in an hour clean the spots you forgot about all year. Move the furniture around and clean. You can also leave this job to the professionals if you don’t have the time. There are so many areas in your house that you can tackle with just a few minutes or up to an hour. For harder, more involved cleaning, consider hiring a maid service in Villanova. Consider the experts like Executive Maids for all of your cleaning needs. Spring will be here before you know it, you don’t want to be left in the dust (literally) when you start opening up the windows and letting the warm air in. Give Executive Maids in Villanova a call […]

Hire a Maid Service in Blue Bell, PA!

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Why you should hire Executive Maids There are many reasons why you should hire a house cleaning company in Blue Bell, PA. There are many hidden elements in your home that you don’t think to clean yourself. With the help of a maid service, you can eliminate dirt and grime and with some knowledge, you can help to element bacteria and dirt that linger in your home. Knowing what things in your house are not sanitary will get you cleaning them yourself and keep your home clean and keep you healthy. If you prefer to have a professional do it, Executive Maids can help. Kitchen sponge Your kitchen sponge may look clean but it is probably the dirtiest thing in your home. It comes in contact with many surfaces and because a sponge is porous, it can contain mold, salmonella and E. coli. These things can cause allergic reactions and serious illness. Kitchen sink Rinsing raw meat and other foods in your sink can leave bacteria in it. You may not be aware but these bacteria can linger in your sink. Cleaning it with that dirty sponge isn’t going to do much either. Disinfecting your sink (sides and bottoms) twice a week and when rinsing raw meat, will help keep your sink clean. Toothbrush holder When you brush your teeth, you are putting hundreds of different kinds of bacteria onto your toothbrush. When you put your toothbrush into its holder you are creating a breeding ground for bacteria. It is another one of the dirtiest places in your home. Make sure to clean your toothbrush holder often by putting it in the dishwasher or soaking it in hot soapy water. Dog Bowl You don’t realize this but pet dishes are one of the germiest places. Make sure you clean them out daily with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher. Your pup deserves better. Coffee Maker The part of your coffee maker that holds the water contains a ton of germs. Bacteria grow in its dark, damp environment. Clean it with a few cups of vinegar by running it through a cycle. Stove knobs You don’t think about it but you use your stove knobs often, many times after you’ve handled raw food. Taking the knobs off your stove and cleaning them once a week is a good way to keep bacteria away. Bathroom faucet Studies have shown that bathroom faucet handles have more germs on them than the toilet handle or bathroom doorknob. Keeping them clean with disinfectant daily will beat bacteria. Countertops Your counters are the areas where you prepare food and are more likely to contain dangerous bacteria like salmonella and E. coli than anywhere else in your home. Wipe them daily with a kitchen cleaner will keep them clean. Knowing these hidden places in your home that can harm your health is the first step to a cleaner house. Letting Executive Maids help with them will ensure a cleaner, fresher living space for you and your […]

Voyageurs National Park – International Falls, Minnesota

Voyageurs National Park
Website – https://www.nps.gov/voya/index.htm
International Falls, Minnesota

This summer, our big adventure was having a new baby.  But LAST summer we took a month-long road trip out to Montana.

Our destination for Day #4 was Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, way up on the border with Canada, and our first new “National Park” National Park for this trip.

This park is mostly water, but we decided to start out with a hike on Lake Kabetogama.  The hike starts just around the corner from the Ash River Visitors Center and was three miles.

We then drove up to International Falls and cut down to the Rainy Lake Visitors Center, where we had tickets for “The Grand Tour”, a 2 1/2 hour ride on Rainy Lake.

Partway through the ride, the boat pulls up and disembarks on Little American Island.  Here there was a gold rush in 1893, complete with a wild west style boom town.  Everything was abandoned by 1901, but today you can take a quick 1/4 mile ranger hike as part of the boat tour.

Old mine, now filled with water.

Back on the boat, it was time to search for wildlife.  And the wildlife most people want to see here are bald eagles.  We had an average day for bald eagle sightings… six!

Old mine shaft.

We were pretty excited.

Beaver lodge.

Too much excitement = nap time on the boat.

Our boat tour over, we headed back to International Falls to camp for the night (all camping in the park itself is backcountry or at the Kettle Falls Hotel.  Either way, boat access only!  Maybe next time!)

The next morning, we came back to the park, the highlight of which was The Pres earned his very first Junior Ranger badge.  He was very proud.

Then it was off across Minnesota toward our next stop, Lake Itasca and the headwaters of the Mississippi River.

Our previous day?  Apolostle Islands National Lakeshore – Bayfield, Wisconsin

Our next day? Itasca State Park, Clearwater County, Minnesota

Effective Cleaning Tips From Villanova Maids!

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Cleaning: Make it fast, easy and effective Nobody wants to be stuck inside scrubbing and dusting all the time. This is the perfect time to open up all your windows and let the sun shine in. It doesn’t mean you have to be inside all day cleaning though. Consider hiring a maid service in Villanova to help you with the really hard stuff. For the lighter cleaning, in between your cleaning service visits, there are ways to get things done quickly and efficiently. Have a game plan When it comes to cleaning, the best approach is an organized approach. Make an outline of the areas you plan to clean in your home, schedule a time and list what tools and techniques you are going to use. Pick your supplies Take an inventory of the supplies you already have and what you still need before you begin cleaning. Once you figure out what you need to make sure you buy the most effective cleaning supplies. You want your supplies to work hard for you, not the other way around. Pick a room Do not shuffle from room to room when you are cleaning various tasks. If you are vacuuming your bedroom, stay in your bedroom and dust, change the sheets, etc. Don’t take the vacuum to another room without finishing up the one you were just in. You need to see the results of your hard work so that you don’t get discouraged. Having one room done in your back pocket will keep you motivated to continue. Clear out the clutter You will never have a truly clean home if you have too much stuff lying around. Remember the 80/20 rule of thumb: only 20 percent of the items we own get used, the other 80 percent are just in the way. Decide what you have and get rid of what you don’t use. If you aren’t quite sure or ready to give up something, put it in a storage bin, store it in the garage or basement and if you haven’t looked for it in awhile, kiss it goodbye. Focus on what’s important Focus on areas of the house that are used the most like the kitchen and bathrooms. High traffic areas are obviously the spaces that need the most cleaning. Save the hard things for your cleaning service but make sure you at least sweep the floors on a regular basis. The forgotten places There are also forgotten areas in our home that go by the wayside like behind the oven, window coverings and bathroom exhaust fans. Don’t forget to tackle these areas once in a while. Hire a professional We can’t all have a live-in maid nor can we clean our entire houses alone. Enlist the help of a professional maid service in Villanova to help you get your house in order. It doesn’t mean you are a bad person if you can’t clean your entire house on your own. It means you are human and you need […]

The pet hair will lift right up. You can ball it up and discard it, until the next time it happens! Deterrent Using water and essential oils is an amazing way to deter pets from jumping on upholstered furniture or anywhere you don’t want them to be. Oils to use are peppermint, eucalyptus, cinnamon and citrus (orange, lemon, and lime). Put 5-6 drops of each oil into water. Fill a spray bottle with the concoction and spray around areas you want to keep your pets away from. Orange is a natural deterrent for animals so if you don’t have the other oils, that one will work the best. Keeping the house clean After your four-legged friends have been outside, running around in the dirt and mud, teach them to stay at the front door to have their paws cleaned. Before letting them in the house, put a towel down. Using treats to teach, have them sit on the towel before they enter the rest of the house. Once they are in a seated position, use the towel to wipe their paws off. Eventually, you won’t need to use treats, they will automatically know that paws get cleaned before going into the house. These quick tips are an easy way to keep your four-legged friends from running amuck in your home and making a mess. We love our animals and most of the time they are free to roam the […]

Get Help from a Maid Service in Philly

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Help Needed? In our ever-changing, fast-paced world, we need a little help now and then. One of the things constantly on people’s minds is “when am I going to find time to clean the house?” This age old issue needs a new outlook. Hiring a maid service in Philadelphia is a great start to solving this problem. Hiring someone to come in and clean your house doesn’t mean that you don’t know how it means you have more important things going on in your life that need to be addressed first. Hiring a cleaning service is a great idea but there are actually quick tips you can do in between your professional cleanings that will not only make you feel that you have contributed to the cleanliness of your house but also, so the cleaning company isn’t at your house for hours. This saves the cleaning service time and you extra cost. According to an article in #HGTVmagazine, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, and vacuuming can all be done a little easier. Mopping The best tool for mopping is a microfiber mop. It picks up things that a traditional sponge or rope mop can leave behind. Before you mop, always sweep up dust and debris. It makes mopping much each and quicker. Dusting Again, microfiber cloths are the trick with dusting. They trap dust and dirt quicker and easier. You can use them dry or with a spray of water or furniture polish. Scrubbing Scrubbing your bathroom and kitchen is one of the worst and hardest tasks when cleaning. Make sure you wear gloves, arm yourself with an all-purpose spray cleaner and have at it. Your bathroom is full of bacteria so make sure you clean the area thoroughly. Vacuuming Vacuum the house last. This will ensure you are picking up debris and dirt left behind by your other chores. Do a quick vacuum of floors and carpet while you are in between your professional visits. If you have a maid service coming every two weeks, vacuuming may be a chore you can skip. However, you choose to help contribute to the cleanliness of your house, hiring a maid service is your step to a clean home all the time. It is a wise investment to ensure a clean and healthy home environment for you and your family and a stress reliever for you as well. If you are looking for a maid service in Philadelphia, Executive Maids can help with all your cleaning needs. We encourage you to clean when you can but we understand how crazy and busy life can get. Find the Best Maid Company for your Home

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

What to look for in the best maid company for your home The constant demands of life make you busier than you could want. Career demands, family obligations, social activities, exercise and even downtime fill up your schedule in the blink of an eye. Taking care of your home’s cleaning needs is often one of the things that falls to the bottom of your calendar and that means having professional help is a good solution to this problem. When you decide you want someone to clean your home, there are things to keep in mind when you seek out the best Philadelphia maid services: Secured employees It is an unfortunate reality that maid services are not always trusted when it comes to having access to your home. Unless you watch them every minute they work, you can’t be sure everyone is trustworthy. Good maid service companies have employees in place that have been through background checks and are okay with you running your own background checks on them. They will be bonded and insured so that that in the event of losses, you are both covered. Bonded workers are typically trustworthy as the company’s business and livelihood depend on it. ID’d and uniformed A good maid service will have their employees show up in uniforms as well as be able to provide ID in the form of a name badge with a photo. They may even go as far as to text or email you photos of they employees so that you know who is coming to your home before they even show up. They come in teams A reputable maid service will send more than one or two people to your home to clean. Typically, they send a team of three or four cleaners with a supervisor among them. They are given specific areas to clean and when the cleaning is done, the supervisor inspects the work so that if something isn’t done right, they make it right before they even leave. Respond to negative feedback Great maid services are going to have very high ratings on customer review sites. However, any business that does a lot of work will inevitably have some negativity from disgruntled customers. The best maid services will be apologetic and professional and will always attempt to make things right with customers. Quality customer service This is probably the most important feature in any company but one that is often put on the back burner. You want a cleaning company that not only provides the best cleaning for your home but provides the best customer service as well. Are they easy to contact? Are they courteous? Can they answer your questions honestly and accurately? If there is a problem or you have questions they should be able to rectify situations in a kind and courteous manner. They want the best for them but they want the best for you too. They understand how important your home is to you and they need to be able […]

UNDERSTANDING PARENTING IN THE CONTEXT OF SPECIAL NEEDS PLANNING

by Begley Law Group @ Begley Law Group

by Thomas D. Begley, Jr., CELA Representing clients in connection with planning for children with disabilities involves a lot more than simply preparing documents. Many lawyers who enter the field of Special Needs Planning have family members who suffer from disabilities and have had first-hand experience with the problem. Good legal advice begins with understanding the problem. For most parents, the concern is what will happen to the child after the parent(s) are gone. While the parents are alive, they will do whatever it takes to achieve the best life possible for their child with disabilities. After they are gone, [...]

Best Maid Service For Your Money in Philly

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Price shop for toilet paper, not your cleaning service One of the most common misconceptions about shopping for a house cleaning service is viewing the cheapest price as your best value option. It is one thing to bargain shop for household items like your Charmin toilet paper. Charmin is the same at Wal-Mart or your local grocery store, but the price may vary. So you shop to find it for the cheapest price. That makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is trying to do that with anyone who provides you with a service. If you are looking for maids in Philadelphia, comparison shop but look for the best quality, not price. While a product and model number is the same regardless of where you purchase it, the same is not true of home service providers. This pertains to plumbers, electricians, painters, handymen and house cleaning services. If you have ever hired two or more house cleaners, you have already learned that inconstancy is more the norm than not. Typically, the lower down the price ladder you shop, the more you are likely to encounter less than stellar work. It isn’t always the case but is often true. High-end prices can lead to high dissatisfaction also. Deciding to hire a house cleaning service is most likely not a decision you have made lightly. After all, most of us are on a budget and we have to watch our money. But, if housework is becoming more than you can handle, hiring a cleaning service may just save you money in the long run. If you neglect your house because you don’t have time, over time things fall into disarray and soon enough you may be replacing floors or cabinets because they were neglected. Then replacing becomes an issue. When you hire someone to clean and maintain your household fixtures, you are investing in the integrity of your home. With that said, don’t you want to find the best maid service? We aren’t suggesting that you are Rockefeller and can hire live-in help to follow you around 24/7 and wait on you hand and foot. But you want to find a maid service you can trust and know they will get the job done for you when you can’t. When you shop for a maid service, research them. Find out how long they have been in business, if they are licensed, how many employees they have and, above all else, what kind of ratings and reviews they have. You want to find someone who will give good custom service, meet your needs and fit your budget. Many cleaning companies will work with you on a budget. So if they are reputable, give them a chance even if you think you can’t afford them. Don’t hire someone because they are the cheapest you could find. Chances are you will get a cheap quality cleaning as well. Remember this when researching maids in Philadelphia. At Executive Maids, we aren’t the cheapest but we certainly aren’t the most […]

Cleaning Tips from Executive Maids!

by Executive Maids Team @ Executive Maids

Ways to use vinegar to clean that will surprise you! Keeping a clean household is hard work. Whether you have a family or are single, you still need to keep a clean home. These days, who has time? While you are running around with the kids’ extracurricular activities or trying to maintain that huge career (or both), cleaning is always the last thing to get done. Your Philadelphia maids can help with the cleaning. At Executive Maids, we have been helping people stay on top of their cleaning by keeping a clean house for them. There are, however, some things Executive Maids, and most maid services for that matter, won’t do. But, did you know that vinegar could help with some of those chores? Yes, folks, vinegar. White vinegar is a very efficient cleaning product for some of your household and personal tasks. Discover ways to use vinegar right now: Get rid of the pit stains! Eliminate perspiration marks under the underarms of clothing by soaking them with vinegar before washing. It will also remove any lingering smells! Soften your jeans Vinegar is a great fabric softener. Turn those stiff jeans inside out and add 1 cup of vinegar to the wash. Jeans will come out nice and soft when they dry. Prevent fading Add a ½ cup of vinegar to your wash when cleaning brightly colored towels and lines to prevent color fading. You will get crisp, bright linens every time! Get rid of smoke smell The lingering smell of stale cigarette smoke on your clothes and fabrics is disgusting. They need a vinegar bath. Pour a cup of vinegar to a large tub of hot water and hang clothes and fabrics above the steam. Leave it overnight with a window open and by morning your items should smell fresher. Freshen up the fridge Clean the shelves and walls with a solution of half water and half vinegar. Banish weeds Pour white distilled vinegar on the weeds growing in the cracks of your walkway and driveway. Saturate the plant so the vinegar reaches the roots. Stop itching Dab a cotton ball soaked in white vinegar on mosquito bites and insect stings. It will stop them from itching and help disinfect the area so they heal faster. Cat urine If you have stray cats in your neighborhood that love to come into your yard to pee, spray vinegar around the perimeter of your house and in your yard. This eliminates existing pee odors and deters them from coming back. As a bonus, it’s also good for your grass. Clean your dishwasher and coffee pot Reduce soap buildup and food residue by pouring a cup of vinegar into your empty dishwasher or coffee pot once a month and letting it run a full cycle. Restore showerhead pressure If your showerhead gets clogged with mineral deposits, soak it for 15 minutes in a mixture of ½ cup vinegar and 1-quart water. These have been helpful hints brought to you by your favorite […]
