by noreply@blogger.com (Néstor Nongo) @ "Amplio mundo mi ciudad"

Up, Up, Up…

by upshift @ Randy Fifield

Fifield is Building the tallest building in the West Loop! Last week we held our groundbreaking ceremony for 727 West Madison. Our dream team is now changing our downtown skyline with 44 stories designed by FitzGerald Associates Architects with interiors by Morgante Wilson. Where most neighborhoods have groups of NIMBY voices, the West Loop has Armando Chacon, President of the West Central Association, Dr.  Laura Calamos Nasir, President of the National Hellenic Museum, Irene Koumi, President of the Board of Directors for the Chicago Greektown Educational Foundation, and David & Ronna Friedman, owners of the building site and the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This neighborhood is ready for change! The feeling on the ground was tremendous. This neighborhood realizes it needs housing. With tech firms, Google, McDonald’s, Soho House, The Ace Hotel and more businesses coming daily, more and more people love working, living and playing in the West Loop. This neighborhood already services Restaurant Row and the central business districts…. as our iPhone reigns supreme, more and more tenants want to rent rather than take care of real estate. Forbes ranks Chicago as the number 1 city for millennials, but The West Loop has more and more older people choosing it, too. Low-density buildings, good schools, Mary Bartelme Park, Monteverde Restaurant, and even Target makes the West Loop a defined neighborhood. 727 West […]

Something Natural

by upshift @ Randy Fifield

The older I get the more I realize how lucky we are to have so many choices today! One of the benefits we have at the Fifield companies is our proximity to good health care.  If you do not have your health, everything else is a real hardship. Feeling well-rested, well-fed, and well-organized leads to well…more wellness! Even more good news about this–more and more studies show sleeping and eating healthy food on a schedule, and proper exercise and meditation can immediately help you feel better and lessen depression. Something natural works! Along those lines, I would like to share other natural and organic things that can have a positive impact on your life. Always see your doctor if you’re having issues, but these helpful hints are over the counter remedies that WORK! 1. Activated charcoal toothpaste. (It does not sound or look good, but it works!)  So many people have yellow teeth, bad breath, and small issues in their mouths that can be alleviated by brushing their teeth with this toothpaste. I see my dentist quarterly for cleanings and check ups to keep everything healthy, and I still wear a retainer to keep my teeth straight and safe from stress! […]

Pretty Patios! Outside Entertaining! We are Better Together…

by upshift @ Randy Fifield

Ahhh…Summer! Enjoying our yards, roof decks or patios. In this “We are Better Together” segment, our guest blogger, Brianne Bishop, talks about easy ways to make the most of outside space. Her creative, urban zen exteriors bring the outside in and the inside out! Outside areas with lighting, seating and accessories become an extension of your home. Last year both Brianne and I enjoyed a long visit on her deck while welcoming home her new daughter, Ada. The large rooftop deck and city views took my breath away, and we both hope this story and inspiration take away yours! Though our patio season is short, I love how Chicagoans make the most of it. Whether it be running by the lake, enjoying friends in a beer garden or my personal favorite–sitting in your own little oasis in this great city. I am fortunate to get to work with my clients on their outdoor spaces and help them create a unique design to call their own. Whether it’s a sprawling yard, a tiny balcony or a private urban terrace; the three L’s are what I rely on: layout, lighting and landscaping. Execute each one of these, and you will have a little piece […]

by noreply@blogger.com (Néstor Nongo) @ "Amplio mundo mi ciudad"

Her website, thewomensalzheimersmovement.org, focuses on women’s health; however, I believe her mission makes everyone aware of the importance of brain health. As a girl that loves games and sports AND is left handed, I have had many people tell me I am clever. I also use my right hand, which I credit to learning to play tennis, golf, and fish with my right hand. Try using your non-dominant  hand for a day. Rent to Ohhh!

This Article written and published by Michigan Avenue made Steve and I blush. Thank you Lisa Skolnick and Michigan Avenue Magazine. We have been called a lot of things but ” The Royal Couple” never entered into our equation. Truthfully, I met Steve wanting to build apartments with him. He, at the time, was a prolific office developer badly wounded by a crushed commercial market. He invited me to lunch, and I peppered him with questions like a reporter, taking in every detail of how he started, deals, finance, his stops and his starts. He did NOT want to build apartments at the time, and while he loved building office buildings, the market was done for the cycle. We walked many apartment buildings, but his heart was not in being a residential landlord. We talked about opportunity, rent growth and urban factors. People want to own homes he said. He kept trying to convince me to love his business of office buildings. The idea of building an office building was not appealing.  And then, The Civic Opera deal presented itself. Steve could be the comeback kid and while I was not getting apartments, we offered a gentle rental program to lease an […]

Love It or Leave It

by upshift @ Randy Fifield

It used to be that apartment developers looked at home features to make a building more livable. Today, tenants have such a remarkable experience renting that when it comes to buying a home, their rental experience shapes what they’re looking for in a home! First and foremost, buyers want it done. Very few people today have the time, energy, or financial resources to buy and renovate a home. Kitchens and bathrooms are still top priorities, along with name brand appliances, stone or quartz counter tops, good lighting, tile back splashes, and under mounted large sinks. A high walk-score for food, public transportation and schools turns heads. Wilmette, Winnetka, and Hinsdale in Chicago are all winners because of the train and walkable amenities. Santa Monica just got a train, and Silicon Beach has had home prices soaring. Public schools are also a factor for 35 year olds making their way back to suburban living and buying homes. 25 minutes from downtown is considered easy access, making close-in suburbs or semi-urban areas desirable. Another important asset is the outside experience. A grilling area, al fresco dining with a pergola for shade, exterior lighting, and outdoor speakers add to a pleasurable space. An […]

Celebrating Summer

by upshift @ Randy Fifield

Ahhh…summer! Fresh tomatoes, strawberries, and cherries. Farmers markets, eating outside, bike rides, and the beach. This year he said, “Guess what!? I planned a trip away for just the two of us!” The regional food, foliage, languages, design, history and walking in these old cities in Italy, France and Spain ground you. I love the water–on the boat I sleep with my doors open and am rocked to sleep by the waves. Sometimes we don’t realize all we do and give […]
